What are your feelings about Artificial Intelligence?
This poker hand found me facing a turn bet against a range I wasn’t all that sure about. I could see a good reason for all options: fold, call, raise. The optimal play depended on what hands I thought made up the majority of their range. Hoping to elicit a tell from them, I started talking.
“It seems I have 3 options. I don’t want to say them out loud ’cause a verbal declaration could be considered binding. I’ll just say, I might do the ‘F’-word, ‘C’-word, or ‘R’-word. Wow … poker terminology can sound awfully crude. The kind of talk that can get someone cancelled! So, what’ll it be? You want to see me ‘F’? Or maybe the ‘C’ is what you want, then you jam the river and make that extra money when I ‘F’. Hmm … the more I talk, the more I feel like a ‘R’. Tell me—would you jam a ‘C’, or ‘F’ a ‘R’?”
That’s about when they threatened to call security if I didn’t shut up and make my decision. I proceeded to push All-in. ‘AI’—talk about something crude that can get you canceled.
