Who has the worst name of any person you’ve met?
I once met a woman whose name became quite unfortunate. It wouldn’t be fair to use her actual name. Instead, I’ll substitute names that make for very similar scenarios. Let’s call her “Isis Cosby.” When she was born in the late ‘80s, her Mom and Dad had no qualms at all about their last name; they were more than happy to pass it along to their beautiful baby daughter. After all, you could do a lot worse than sharing a surname with Bill Cosby, the actor portraying Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable, America’s #1 TV dad. After so much difficulty conceiving, to be blessed with such a lovely, healthy child, she deserved the most beautiful first name as well. They named her after Isis, the Egyptian goddess of love and fertility. Along came 2014 and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria—better known as ISIS. Unlucky! At least the negative connotation of her first name is balanced out by the unreproachable last name of Cos—. Are you serious?! Say it’s ain’t true, Bill! Isis Cosby is so unlucky that I wouldn’t be surprised to learn she was born on September 11.
