. . .here are my thoughts.

What is the last movie that made your eyes water?

In 1942, science fiction author Isaac Asimov penned his infamous Three Laws of Robotics:

  1. A robot may not injure a human or, through inaction, allow a human to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey the orders given it by humans except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such a protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

While watching Finch, I was intrigued to see Asimov’s Laws augmented by the film’s (essentially) lone human character. That newly minted 4th Law mandated the care of Dog. (No, I haven’t forgotten the definite article “the” or accidentally hit “Shift.” The canine’s name is actually “Dog.”) The surprising kicker to the 4th Law, though, is it’s programmed to supersede Asimov’s original three Laws. I know, I know. Brad says there’s a “dog” and—. Sorry, let’s try again. Brad says “Dog” and “eyes water” in the same sentence, so there must be a deceased canine by movie’s end. Eyes can water for other reasons, though. You know . . . like, allergies and whatnot.
