Q&complAints #539 : Trusted Instincts

Do you trust your instincts?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! Instinctually, though, you know you should write something down below.

. . .here are my thoughts.

Do you trust your instincts?

It’s a familiar tale.  Brother commits regicide against brother, seizing his throne.  Ten-year-old son of the deceased escapes with his life, returning 2 decades later for revenge.  Such is the plot of the movie, The Northman.  This film teaches us the two desires of Viking warriors:

  1. To get revenge for past misdeeds upon family members.
  1. To die honorably in battle, so they can enter Valhalla.

Both are granted simultaneously to our protagonist at film’s end.  He swings his blade with a slash that cuts off his uncle’s head just as the sword of the decapitated man thrusts through his chest.  Isn’t it great when everything works out?!  Trust your instincts and imagine the scene of this 10th-century, Viking warrior fight to the death(s).  I’m sure you’re picturing it correctly and completely, but I’ll list a few things so you can see what you got right and what you may have missed.  Iceland.  Two impossibly muscular men.  Heavy swords and wooden shields.  The side of an actively erupting volcano.  Both men, bare ass naked!  Instinctually I knew it’d be too hot for clothing next to all that flowing lava.  My instincts are generally trustworthy.
