Rx #0000035 : Safety Mechanisms Galore (#2)

Meds & Counsel without Patience for Patients
Ever heard of Dick’s Last Resort? Never been to the restaurant myself, but I love the concept. It’s like the court jester in medieval times being able to tell the King the harsh truth since everything he said was in—you guessed it—jest. Why has no pharmacy taken up this business practice? If patients expect harsh but fair truth from the pharmacy team, they’ll accept it readily.
Welcome to URxProbablyRxight. The pharmacy of the future where we provide “Meds & Counsel without Patience for Patients.”

[Rph]: “Are you up to date on your Hep B, Roger?”
[Rph 2]: “I haven’t ordered any Hep B for quite a while.”
[Rph]: “What? No, no. I mean, have you personally had your Hep B vaccines?”
[Rph 2]: “Ohh. Yeah, long time ago. Wait, we don’t need any boosters after the initial series do we?”
[Rph]: “No. I was just wondering because I never got mine.”
[Rph 2]: “You might as well, Marianne. They’re free—the company pays for ‘em.”
[Rph]: “Especially since it seems immunizations will be our #1 priority for the foreseeable future.”
[Rph 2]: “That’s a good point. More chances for needle sticks.”
[Rph]: “Have you thought about how dangerous it is that we have, like, a dozen different needles, each with a slightly different safety mechanism?”
[Rph 2]: “Look at you—full of good points today. It would be nice if the government just sent us one kind.”
[Rph]: “I wonder if the number of accidental needle sticks has risen since the pandemic started.”
[Rph 2]: “Ohh, there’s no doubt in my mind.”
[Rph]: “Frankly, I’m surprised pharmacists haven’t pretended to get a needle stick just to get time off work.”
[Rph 2]: “They would get free health care. Could maybe even claim some mental trauma or something to get a little paid time off.”
[Rph]: PTO! Almost worth sticking yourself on purpose.”
[Rph 2]: “Let’s—umm . . . let’s keep some of your good points on the down-low.”
[Rph]: “Yeah, I’ll stick that one in the ol’ back pocket.”
[Rph 2]: “Just in case, huh?”
[Rph]: “Just in case. In the meantime, mind giving me my first Hep B dose before you leave?”

. . . [As an employee at URxProbablyRxight, what would
you do for a few weeks of PTO?]
