What alternative career path interests you?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! I’ve cleared the path for you, now I’m interested in what you have to say.

. . .here are my thoughts.

What alternative career path interests you?

Embarrassingly, I’d never encountered the story of Diana Nyad, immortalized in the aptly named 2023 film, Nyad.  Whether I’m to drown in that embarrassment on my own accord, or my ignorance is due to the lack of media attention given to female athletes in 2013, I can’t say.  I’ve never watched Dancing with the Stars, thus didn’t witness Diana’s brief 2014 performance in which she was the first contestant made to walk the plank.  After watching Nyad, my question isn’t why she’d return to marathon swimming nearly 30 years after hanging up her swim cap.  Instead, I want to know why she only swam freestyle.  Over 200,000 identical strokes can’t be good for her joints, or her psyche.  Flip over and backstroke for an hour.  Maybe 10 minutes of butterfly.  There was no need for speed, so even the breaststroke would seem a reasonable option.  I couldn’t imagine swimming 100+ miles through open ocean using any combination of strokes … especially at 64 years of age!  I haven’t played competitive soccer since I was 22.  Perhaps when I turn 50, though, I’ll do the ol’ Nyad and start training for my professional soccer career.
