What’s the best argument for voting?

What’s the best argument for voting?
Move by Move: Life Lessons On and Off the Chessboard, by Maurice Ashley, somehow stretched across 175 pages. However, if the text was written like that of Infinite Jest, it could have done without probably 160 of those pages. Frankly, it may take longer for me to write this post than it did for me to read Maurice’s book. Less a book, really; more like a series of blog posts printed out for the visually impaired. One of his “Life Lessons” is this:
“It’s obvious that if two people are arguing opposite points of view then they can’t both be right (though they could both be wrong!).”
The core tenet of my UrProbablyRight posts is that most issues don’t have a definitive correct answer or side. There are nearly always nuances. Generally, the best that can be expected after an argument is having the other person move ever so slightly toward the middle ground. The inverse inevitably holds true: you also move nearer to their side. Unless, of course, you’re debating an ultra-left or far-right nutjob who spouts only lies and conspiracy theories. Hope you’re going to vote, because they sure as hell will!
