. . .here are my thoughts.
What is the most despicable way to make a lot of money?
Remember when Neil Patrick Harris portrayed a child physician? Imagine a respected University giving a doctorate to a teenager. Most Universities don’t have Harvard’s $40 billion endowment, so they’ll take money from anyone in exchange for that fancy diploma. Seems a waste of crippling student debt, though, figuring the majority of that education could be garnered on the internet for the price of a monthly data plan. The mention of Neil Patrick Harris brings to mind a completely different NPH—Neutral Protamine Hagedorn. It’s the type of insulin in Humulin N and Novolin N. While those aren’t ungodly expensive, many other insulins are. We’re talking $100 for potentially only a few day’s supply of medication that Type 1 diabetics need—in no fault of their own—to stay alive. A Type 1’s pancreas fails to produce adequate insulin, and since their pancreas is part of them, technically speaking it is their fault. But I think you know what I mean. Regardless, the exorbitant prices for a drug that’s used by millions of people every day for the remainder of their lives, could be described as despicable. Or capitalism.
