With the loss of his hat near the start line, Ned no longer has access to his plethora of
elfin magic. His sack race is lost. Ned must rely on his relative lack of physical prowess to avoid
the embarrassment of finishing dead last among this motley crew. Well rested from the
previous day, however, Viv tears toward the finish line, leaving all but one runner in her wake.
She takes a big risk not allowing the Santa Claus elf to win. Even though he’s obviously not the
real “Big Guy,” misunderstandings like this can run rampant. The North Pole rumor mill can be
a fickle, unrelenting beast.
