Ned’s Adventures: 12/24-25/20

Ned’s 2020 Adventures

December 24-25, 2020

We’ve all heard the story of Sully. Birds aren’t just a nuisance to jet engines, though. While Santa got a final good night’s rest, Ned stayed up well into the morning hours looking out for any birds still in the area unseasonably late. Struggling to stay awake, Ned spent much of the night reading the silly names of many of the avian species. He was intrigued to learn that some are even called different names depending on the region of the country. Ned’s eyelids eventually gave way to sleep. He dreamt of Chilean Sea Bass and how the fish didn’t sell well in seafood restaurants due to its original, unappetizing name: the Patagonian Toothfish. It was then that Ned snapped awake in a panic, remembering he had skipped last night’s post-dessert snack.

Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds. The USPS has been overloaded with packages to deliver this holiday season. While their mantra concedes nothing to turbulent weather, the postal service seems no match for a submicroscopic virus. Ned overheard Phoebe mention a time or two that packages mailed from her sister in Florida would not arrive here by Christmas. Always trying to please, Ned hastily set to wrapping some “gifts” to fill the void. Some may interpret this as a new, ultra-low bar for regifting. But with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, Brad and Phoebe see only thoughtfulness and love in Ned’s actions. We’ve come to expect nothing else from Santa’s finest representative.

See You Next December, Ned!
