Q&complAints #686:  Cutest Animal

What is the cutest animal on Earth?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! If you write nothing, I’ll simply assume your answer is Animal from The Muppet Show.

. . .here are my thoughts.

What is the cutest animal on Earth?

Why do people think tardigrades are so cute? Maybe it’s at least partly because they’re so often referred to by their moniker: water bears. Who couldn’t love a water bear? Take a look at the microscopic beast, though—blown up to ungodly proportions—and tell me you still think it’s cute. That bastard looks like the inspiration for the creatures in the movie Tremors. On April 11, 2019, an Israeli spacecraft crashed into the Moon during its attempt to land. On that craft were thousands of dehydrated tardigrades, which are presumably now on the Moon’s surface. Tardigrades are notorious for being Earth’s most resilient animals. They can survive under crazy conditions: extreme temperatures and pressures (both high and low), lack of air and water, radiation, and starvation. If other animals bragged to a tardigrade about what extreme conditions they could survive, surely these microscopic terrors would mockingly respond through that circular mouth of horror, “Ahh, that’s so cute.” Oh—I almost forgot—tardigrades have also survived exposure to outer space! So, who knows; there may actually be life on the Moon. For me, though, puppies still win the cutest animal on Earth award.
