How would you describe your mood right now?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! Or do it later if you’re not in the mood right now.

. . .here are my thoughts.

How would you describe your mood right now?

The World Cup is under way!  That explanation point is an expression of my perpetual excitement for the 29-day tournament, NOT for its host country.  When a player gets injured in soccer, the opponents almost always kick the ball out of bounds, allowing the hurt player to get treatment.  This goodwill gesture negates the man-advantage they’d temporarily have.  Meanwhile, the World Cup is being played in Qatar—a country with atrocious human rights records, dismal treatment of migrant workers, and extreme persecution of LGBTQ+ people.  Odd juxtaposition!  Much has already been written about these serious issues, so I’ll tackle the mystifying sporting-related issue that’s never been explored.  After the ball’s deliberately kicked out and the injured player is tended to, the ball’s thrown in, then knocked all the way back to the goalkeeper of the team that kicked it out.  A sporting gesture that says: “Merci,” “Danke,” “Cheers mate!”  Why—I’ve long wondered—rather than kicking the ball all the way back to the goalkeeper, don’t they just perform a foul throw-in (e.g., lifting a foot)?  The team initially kicking the ball out would regain possession via a throw-in, while maintaining field-position.
