Q&complAints #340: Christopher Columbus

If you could travel back to 1492, what advice would you give Columbus?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! But how else will someone judge you 500+ years from now?

. . .here are my thoughts.

If you could travel back to 1492, what advice would you give Columbus?

We’ve all heard the rhyme, “In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue.”  He made less rhyme-based ventures in 1493, 1498 and 1502.  What were those latter 3 trips about?  Recall the last time you spoke on the phone with a friend you haven’t heard from in quite some time.  Or perhaps when you ran into an old acquaintance at the supermarket.  These interactions universally end with each side offering well-wishes to the spouse or children of the other.  You usually forget all about the conversation before getting to the checkout.  On rare occasions, though, you fulfill your obligation to pass along the message: “Saw your old babysitter, Amanda, at the store.  She said ‘Hello.’”  To which your kid inevitable replies, “Cool.  Tell her ‘Hi.’”  Same thing happened with good ‘ol Chris and some dude he encountered in the New World.  “From all of us in America—where we’ve been for centuries!—greetings to Ferdinand and Isabella.”  Isabella responds, “Wonderful!  Tell them ‘Hello,’ Christoforo.”  Three additional treks across the Atlantic are failed attempts to deliver the Queen’s “Hello” message.  Piece of advice, Chris—just keep your mouth shut!
