What was your favorite book growing up?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! But I can’t read it if you don’t write it.

. . .here are my thoughts.

What was your favorite book growing up?

I didn’t read that much as a kid, except for sports novels by Matt Christopher.  They were fast-paced, quick reads … and there were a LOT of them.  I didn’t read every one of his hundreds of novels; but not for lack of trying.  I never had a single favorite book, but he sure was my favorite author.  Not that he had any competition.  One book I owned, but never read, was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Odd, since I must have watched Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory a hundred times.  The movie was based on Roald Dahl’s book but gave precedence to the chocolatier.  If I read it today, there’s a decent chance I’d dislike the book since the classic movie is ingrained as canon in my mind.  That’s why the remake starring Johnny Depp didn’t sit well with me either.  It’d be like if a 62-year-old Christian who never actually read the Bible, finally undertook the arduous task.  Having been inundated throughout their life with evangelism, sermons, hymns, and everything else that goes along with religious teachings, their interpretation of the Bible might not align with what has been proselytized.
