. . .here are my thoughts.
What is your favorite dish at an Italian restaurant?
I get a hankering to visit an Olive Garden about once a year, but never more often than that. Can’t go wrong with a simple Angel Hair and Five Cheese Marinara with Grilled Chicken. Or perhaps the complex layers of a good lasagna. I’m not huge into the ins-and-outs of Italian cuisine, but I think I can safely say a lot of it’s pretty similar: carbs and sauce. Even moreso than Italian cuisine, Mexican foods seem to be the exact same stuff, just in different wrappings and maybe under a slightly different sauce. Regardless, when you think about an Italian meal, you think of family.
“When You’re Here [once a year], You’re Family.”
And isn’t that what really makes a meal memorable? Great conversation and a bit of good-natured ribbing can really accentuate the delicious flavors of each bite. While watching an Italian family eat a meal in the 2016 Oscar Best Picture nominee, Brooklyn, such a memorable family moment was produced. While eating pasta, an 8-year-old informed his brother’s Irish girlfriend of the well-known fact their family don’t like Irish people. Worst family motto ever:
“When You’re Here, You’re Hated!”
