Rx #0000064 : Baby Formula

Meds & Counsel without Patience for Patients
Ever heard of Dick’s Last Resort? Never been to the restaurant myself, but I love the concept. It’s like the court jester in medieval times being able to tell the King the harsh truth since everything he said was in—you guessed it—jest. Why has no pharmacy taken up this business practice? If patients expect harsh but fair truth from the pharmacy team, they’ll accept it readily.
Welcome to URxProbablyRxight. The pharmacy of the future where we provide “Meds & Counsel without Patience for Patients.”

Baby Formula

[Tech]: “Thanks for calling ‘You Are Probably Right.’  This is Jaycee, a technician.  What can I do for you?”
[Patient]: “Yeah, hi.  You got any baby formula in stock?”
[Tech]: “We don’t stock items out in the store, but last I heard we were completely out.”
[Pt]: “Would you be able to check for me?”
[Tech]: “Yeah, I would … if we had more staff, less actual pharmacy work to do, and fewer phone calls like this one.”
[Pt]: “Well, how can I know for sure?”
[Tech]: “I can transfer you up to Customer Service.”
[Pt]: “You know this is all because of the overthrow of Roe v. Wade, don’t you?”
[Tech]: “I know I’m gonna regret this, but … why’s that?”
[Pt]: “These formula companies are all pro-choice!  They purposely stopped making formula to prove how bad it’ll be if there’s tons more babies when women can’t have abortions.”
[Tech]: “Umm … wouldn’t baby formula manufacturers want to sell as much product as possible.  It’d make a whole lot more sense if they were anti-abortion?”
[Pt]: “That’s what they want you to think.”
[Tech]: “Why the hell would they care what I think?”
[Pt]: “I’ll tell you—I breastfed all my babies back in the ‘60s.  Each of ‘em stayed on the tit till they started school.  Mothers these days rely too much on the bottle.”
[Tech]: “I definitely didn’t need to know any of that!  So, I—I’m confused.  Do you need formula for, like, a great-grandbaby, or what?”
[Pt]: “No, no.  No youngins in this old lady’s life.”
[Tech]: “I’m so confused … I—I’m gonna transfer you up front.”
[Pt]: “Wait!  Can I just ask you—”
[Tech]: “Oh my god, guys!  You will not believe the conversation I just had with this old lady.”
