. . .here are my thoughts.
What feature would you add to your vehicle?
Ever been driving down the highway and desire to know the temperature of your windshield? Me neither. But just in case I ever do, I’d add a monitor that can measure the temperature of the windshield. I assume this already exists, since my rear defrost automatically shuts itself off eventually. Maybe it’s time-based, though, rather than temperature-based. Regardless, I want temperature tech in the front windshield. This would henceforth be known as the “windshield factor.” How intriguing it would be to see the vast temperature fluctuations as you drive. Sub-zero temps displayed as you speed into blowing snow on a winter’s day. The number rising well into triple digits as you waste your summer afternoon at that dreaded stoplight that’s obscenely long for no apparent reason. Impatiently staring at the readout as your defrost diligently fulfills its job description. Truth be told, “windshield factor” is an eggcorn I believed to be correct for far—far!—too long. I mean, come on, “windchill factor,” or “windshield factor”—which makes more sense? In lieu of my “windshield factor,” I’d simply add the elusive full self-driving mode to my RAV4. Both seem about equally beneficial.
