Meds & Counsel without Patience for Patients
Ever heard of Dick’s Last Resort? Never been to the restaurant myself, but I love the concept. [Tech]: “I can help who’s next.”
[Patient]: “Hey, yeah. I got a pick up for Durgins—June 27, 1998.”
[Tech]: “Alright, for Kurt?”
[Pt]: “That’s me.”
[Tech]: “Just got the one for you today—the testosterone.”
[Pt]: “That’s it.”
[Tech]: “And there’s a note here: ‘MMA for further refills.’ You’ll need to—”
[Pt]: “What’s that? A note from who?”
[Tech]: “From your doctor. They want you to make—”
[Pt]: “My doctor wants to fight, or I can’t get another prescription?!”
[Tech]: “No, they want you to—wait, what? Why would your doctor want to fight you?”
[Pt]: “Hell, I don’t know! You’re the one that just said ‘MMA for any more refills.’”
[Tech]: “Umm, yeah. You have to make an appoint—”
[Pt]: “I don’t even fight, Bernard. I mean, I know I’d kick my doctor’s ass, but she’s like 60 or something. Hell, I thought testosterone was banned in Mixed Martial Arts.”
[Tech]: “No, no, no, no, no! Must Make Appointment! Not Mixed Martial Arts.”
[Pt]: “Ohh, okay! Makes sense. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Haven’t seen her in about a year. I’ll make an appointment.”
[Tech]: “So, okay, let me get this straight. Not only did you think a 60-year-old woman would know what Mixed Martial Arts is, but that she’d want to fight you in it.”
[Pt]: “Well, you did say—. And, I mean, I’m a fan, so—. Let me—let me just pay and get out of here.”
[Tech]: “Alright, Kurt ‘Doctor Killer’ Durgins—here’s your receipt.”
[Pt]: “Yeah, I deserve that.”
