What is your favorite uncommon word beginning with “S”?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! There’s no “s” on the end of “answer”; I’m just asking for one.

. . .here are my thoughts.

What is your favorite uncommon word beginning with “S”?

syzygy: (n) the nearly straight-line configuration of three celestial bodies

Syzygy [SIZ-eh-gee] is not to be confused with a group of lesbians engaged in a specific sexual act. That, my friends, would be a “scissor orgy.” I honestly have no idea if that’s true, but they sure do sound alike. Scissor orgy … scissorgy … syzorgy … syzygy. Told you! Now you’ll never forget the word. Aren’t I the greatest teacher? The most spectacular space-related syzygy we witness from our vantage point here on Earth is a total solar eclipse. Those brief few moments rarely occur—when the Earth, Moon, and Sun are in such perfect alignment that day turns to dusk, the temperature suddenly drops, many animals abruptly begin their evening routines, and grown men weep as they stare at totality. The distant planets have lots of moons, thus, many opportunities to experience their own total solar eclipse. I can’t rule out the satellites of the gas giants or ice giants from being the exact size necessary to perfectly block out the sun during syzygy. So, nothing can stop you from imagining a lights out scissor orgy syzygy on Uranus.
