What will not travel with you the next time you move?

What will not travel with you the next time you move?
It’s obvious, and more than a little pedantic, to say my address would not travel with me if I were to move. I’ve been accused of being pedantic, so sure, I’ll say address. It’s not just my current street, house number and Zone Improvement Plan (ZIP) Code [did you know that’s what ZIP stands for?] I’ll leave behind, but also the larger geographic symbolizer of my address: OH. My wife and I are not leaving this house unless we move out of state. If we do leave without the OH—and if we stay within U.S. borders—I know where I absolutely won’t relocate. Our new home won’t be within any territory starting with “G.” I’m referring not only to Georgia, but also potentially Greenland. One’s too hot, the other too cold. And I have absolutely no use for any state beginning with “M.” Trying to keep all their state abbreviations straight is like pissing up a rope.

- Massachusetts—MA
- Michigan—MI
- Minnesota—MN
- Mississippi—MS
- Missouri—MO
- Montana—MT
Why isn’t Mississippi “MP”? I mean, come on—it’s the only state with a PP!
