. . .here are my thoughts.

What is your favorite track and field event?

Ever finished watching a movie and berate yourself for missing a not-so-subtle moment of foreshadowing?  Maybe you thought the husband reminded his wife about her nearly becoming an Olympic decathlete simply because they found themselves at a collegiate track meet.  I might not be an expert in picking out all episodes of foreshadowing in the moment, but I got a hell of a lot of practice while watching The Family Plan.  The film lacked subtlety.  Along with foreshadowing, it hit viewers over the head with comparisons, correlations, parallelisms and any number of other sesquipedalian story-telling devices.  Dad was an ex-assassin, while his son is now a professional first-person shooter gamer.  Dad keeps everything low profile and routine: lives in a cookie-cutter development; refuses Salesman of the Month photos to be taken; uses his turn signal when pulling into his driveway; taco Wednesdays and sex Thursdays; etc.  When taking a shower to wash off the red slushie poured over his head, it looks just like a victim’s blood circling the drain.  Despite catching all these (and many more!) in the moment, I never foresaw the former decathlete’s lethal use of her javelin skills.
