. . .here are my thoughts.
How much would you pay to go to the moon?
Here’s a book with a mouthful of a title: Our Moon: How Earth’s Celestial Companion Transformed the Planet, Guided Evolution, and Made Us Who We Are, by Rebecca Boyle. This book taught me I should really spend the hour needed to gain a general understanding of the Moon’s phases. They seem simple enough to grasp if I’d just take time to cram them into my noggin. Then again, there’s that wonder, that mystery, that thrill of walking onto the back porch to see a seemingly random portion of the Moon staring back at me from its arbitrary position in the sky. At least while staring up there now, I’ll know more about the lunar rock samples gathered during the Apollo missions. They’ve been on Earth for 50+ years, yet aren’t really here here since strict storage requirements have assured their pristine conditions have never been contaminated by Earth’s atmosphere. Depending on which origin of the Moon you believe, those samples may have already been on Earth as—quite literally—part of Earth. Screw diamond engagement rings! Memories of a trip to the Moon would make 3 months’ salary last forever.
