What game are you great at?

What game are you great at?
The easiest way to become great at a game is to be the only one playing it. Better still, be the sole person who knows the rules—rules you made up. You’re likely to still be terrible at the game, but compared to the rest of humanity who have zero knowledge of the game’s existence … you’re the greatest! New poker game variants continue to be introduced, especially at the nosebleed stakes. Once the pros become so good at a game that there’s no way for rich businessmen to have any chance of beating them, they create a new variant. This allows some time for them to get their gamble on with some semblance of a chance be come out victorious. Eventually, though, pros figure out the new game’s intricacies. Rinse; repeat. This is why we have games like Badeucy, Badacy, and Short-Deck. My idea for a variant on traditional Texas Hold’em is this:
- Preflop = limit
- Flop = pot limit
- Turn = no limit
- River = all-in or check
I won’t remain the best for long. But until I hit “Publish” on this blog post, I am perhaps the greatest in the world.
