What is your favorite TV or movie animal?
In Anatomy of a Fall, Daniel and his female court-appointed handler have the same haircut. Daniel never comments on that little oddity—he being blind and all. Why no other character comments on it remains a mystery. As much a mystery as whether Daniel’s father’s death was the result of defenestration, a tragic accident, or death by suicide. The viewer is left to decide for themselves. The French court, however, decided a murder it was not. The nation of wine lovers and baguette aficionados doesn’t seem to have the luxury of privilege against self-incrimination in whatever the French equivalent of the Constitution is. Questioning the defendant in such a manner would certainly be judged unconstitutional in the States. It’s verging on unconstitutional for the dog, Snoop, in Anatomy of a Fall not to have been an Oscar Best Actor nominee. I’m not saying Snoop should have beaten out Cillian Murphy, but the K-9 did act as though he OD’d: tongue hanging out, eyes rolled back, no reaction to water poured down his throat, etc. Those skills took only two months of training! Cillian’s been training as an actor for nearly 30 years.
