What is something others do that amazes you?
I quite like when fake episodes of real-world TV programs are shown in movies, creating extra authenticity for their characters and plot. Such is the case with The Stephen A. Smith Show in Creed III. What didn’t add to the plot of Creed III—but literally took away a character—was the death of Creed’s mother. It was such a non-event in the film that I figured Phylicia Rashad was tired of the role and wanted to ensure she wouldn’t be getting cast in Creed V when she’s in her 80s. That’d be about the time Adonis Creed’s daughter would start her boxing career. And they’re 100% setting her up for one to help extend the franchise. Amara Creed as the title character would hit both gender equality and the disability community. What’s better than having a young, Black woman get her pretty little face bashed all to hell before inevitably reaching the pinnacle of her sport? Having the world champ also be deaf! But how will she sign with those bulky gloves on? Anyone fluent in ASL absolutely amazes me, thus I’m confident she’ll manage to communicate despite boxing’s inherent impediment.
