What is the worst thing you can do to “mess up your life”?
I caught the final 30 minutes of this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Very confusing! I didn’t recognize a single balloon. There were such obscure ones taking up the rear of the parade that the character’s names and the program they came from were plastered on the screen (e.g., Red Titan from Ryan’s World). They’d never need to write, Snoopy from Peanuts. Then there was an advertiser called Live!y. I have no idea what this company does. I could easily do a search online to find out, but I really want to maintain the mystery. Fancy-ass marketing brainiacs intend for the exclamation point to stand in for the letter L. Since the TV was muted, I had no idea Live!y was actually pronounced, Lively. All I could see was: Live! Why? Was Macy’s hinting that we shouldn’t dare go on living now that Mariah Carey had finished lip-syncing her tune, and Santa had waved goodbye until this time next month? Whatever you do, don’t mess up your life by becoming a client of Live! Why?—sorry, Live!y. A company—I have to assume—specializing in assisted suicide.
