What is your favorite breed of dog?

What is your favorite breed of dog?
Doxin … Doxhound … Dashhound … My wife and I have had 3 of them—2 currently sleeping near me as I write, the 3rd in the inevitable long sleep in a tin in the next room—but I still find it impossible to spell their breed. There’s also the beautiful, long-legged Italian Greyhound. Nowhere close to as fast as their big-boy Greyhound cousins, but still darn quick. Extremely gentle and loving, too. This is completely based off an n-of-1. Her name was Gia. Well, initially it was Gina, until my wife changed it ever so slightly when we “rescued” her. Phoebe didn’t want our little girl named a 4-letter word. (I don’t think she understands the concept behind that saying.) I really don’t like the term “rescue” for adopting a slightly older dog, or one with a previous owner. It gives the impression the former owners were somehow evil, abusive people. Maybe they died, had financial hardships, or simply desired a better life for their dogs than they felt they could provide. Anyway, if you stuck the proverbial gun to my head, dachshund is my answer. I’ll just keep Googling the spelling.
