Q&complAints #276: Real Work

What paid job doesn’t seem like real work?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! You’re a real piece of work, you know that!

. . .here are my thoughts.

What paid job doesn’t seem like real work?

They say if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.  But you also might not get paid!  I love writing.  I just don’t get paid for it because I’m no professional.  I do it for free.  Technically, it costs me money for my domain, hosting, etc.  My time is the real cost, though.  But would I really want editors or clients critiquing my every word, determining if my work is worthy of publication and, thus, compensation?  Sure.  If they’ll pay me, the answer’s yes!  I’ve been contemplating a part-time, remote writing gig, so I recently put my CV on Indeed, LinkedIn, and ZipRecruiter.  I think I’d be perfect for a company that doesn’t concern themselves with professionalism in the written content they release.  Perhaps I shouldn’t have typed that previous sentence since I link directly to my website in the “Experience” section of my resume.  Then again, what are the odds they’ll randomly click on this post out of the nearly 400 I’ve written?  Shit, what if they perform a keyword search for Indeed, LinkedIn, or ZipRecruiter?!  Whatever.  I’m gonna keep on writing—paid or not.

  1. Not sure at this stage of life if anything comes to mind. Beer or wine tastings might qualify as an answer.
