. . . here are my thoughts.

What issue deserves more attention?

There’s no greater honor in soccer than playing for your national team. The United States Men’s and Women’s National Teams each have a current player with ties to the leadership of another country. Tim Weah’s father, George Weah won the Ballon d’Or (best player in the world) in 1995. George is the current President of Liberia—a country with a history of extensive political corruption. (And one of only 3 countries, along with U.S. and Myanmar, not to officially adopt the metric system.) Trinity Rodman plays for the women’s team. Her father is the eccentric, ex-NBA star, Dennis Rodman. While nobody would trust Dennis as their HOA President—let alone the President of a nation—he did make trips to North Korea back in 2013-2014. The hermit kingdom leader, Kim Jong-un, reportedly took quite a liking to Rodman. Who knows what secrets they might have shared. I’m not saying there’s anything amiss with these foreign relations, but perhaps the situations deserve more attention. Or perhaps good genetics and financial resources allow offspring to excel in athletics, while their parent’s fame win them 61.5% of Liberian votes, and the admiration of one dictatorial basketball fan.
