What is something you would not want to be responsible for?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! You’re responsible for your own actions.

. . .here are my thoughts.

What is something you would not want to be responsible for?

Prior to the start of U.S. sporting events following a major disaster or historical anniversary, there’ll often be a moment of silence. When a stadium is filled with 40,000 people, silence is an aspirational request. I suppose the definition of silence itself is open to interpretation. You can lubricate each seat, and have all parents cover their toddler’s mouths to prevent the inevitable, “Why it quiet, Mommy?” But how do you prevent the creaking knees and hips of every single spectator? You can’t. I sure wouldn’t want to be responsible for the only noise among tens of thousands of my closest friends. I’d have to finger some undeserving fella behind me as the culprit while everyone in my vicinity plugs their nose. Thus, I’m a fan of England’s method for commemorating these moments. In lieu of the American attempt to fill 10 seconds with the impossibility of silence, Brits applaud for a full minute. If each individual claps for just 10 seconds of the requested 60, there’ll still be plenty of overlap to fill the full minute of remembrance—while making questionable the identity of “he who dealt it.”

Via Silence or Applause, Commemorate Veteran’s Day on November 11th.

  1. I too would not want to be responsible for someone’s death or sickness. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for raising children.

    • There will be a post in a couple weeks warning about Ned’s return. I’ll then post daily from about Dec 4 up through Christmas. Can’t wait!

  2. In the time we are now living, I would say I would not want to be responsible for spreading Corona to someone and them dying from it. I have had the two shots plus the booster and still wear a mask. Some people cannot get the shots or are to young. I would it want to pass it to them.
