. . .here are my thoughts.

What is the best reason to never leave your house?

I read a statistic claiming 52% of automobile accidents occur within 5 miles of your home. Wanting to be as safe as possible on the road, I immediately contemplated moving. But my wife and I really like our house. So then I began wondering, do they mean 5 miles of driving distance, or 5 miles as the crow flies? Figured I might as well err on the side of caution and assume a 5-mile radius. I got out my map and compass to construct the set of all points on the plane of the map exactly 5 miles from my abode. Anywhere along that circle would be a safe place to park my car before finding other means of transportation the rest of the way home. But I fear I’d forget where I parked along the 31.4 mile loop. Math refresher:

C = 2 π r
C = (2) (3.14) (5)
C= 31.4 miles

That’d be a long, dangerous walk to locate my lost car. Just when I was starting to think I would never leave the house again, Phoebe clued me in: they weren’t specifically referring to our home.

  1. Glad Phoebe set you straight. Corona virus for sure. Too many people carrying guns who shouldn’t be out of their house let alone carrying a gun.
