What should not be in your stomach?

I’ve heard about a culture where Moms swallow their kid’s first baby tooth that falls out. Teeth should be in your mouth, never your stomach! They can also be in a glass of Polident on the bedside table—right next to the drinking water—crying out for an errant, dreary-eyed chug. The mouth is the entryway to, and first step of, our digestive tract. All mouths are parts of the digestive tract, but not all parts of the digestive tract are mouths. So teeth should be in our digestive tract, but only if permanently rooted, or otherwise adhered to our gums. But they shouldn’t be in your stomach. Most cultures have a silly method of celebrating the loss of baby teeth and the progression into actually having to care for those pearly white replacements. Some chuck baby teeth onto their roof, into a fire, or into a mouse hole. In the States, we tuck it under a pillow in exchange for a few bucks from the Tooth Fairy—a character whose B&E rap sheet rivals Santa’s. Wonder if any kids have gone through Mom’s BM after hearing about the Tooth Fairy’s payment schedule.

  1. Dr. Said I should eat liver because it is high in iron. No way. I have never eaten it and never will. There’s only so much I’d do to improve my health and that isn’t or ever will be on the list.

  2. I love liver and onions. I haven’t had it in years. Not supposed to be the healthiest of things to eat. It is supposed to contain a lot of cholesterol.

  3. That would hurt going down and coming out. Liver should never be ingested into the stomach, cooked or raw. We have a liver but it is inside our body not our stomach.
