Q&complAints #035 : Completely Far-Fetched

What is completely far-fetched?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! But I don’t feel it’s that far-fetched of a request.

. . .here are my thoughts.

What is completely far-fetched?

Say you had a college roommate who asked to borrow your car to drive a 120-mile round trip to pick up his girlfriend. You, obviously, say “No.” You wake up the next morning to see said girlfriend in your dorm room. Hmm, how’d she get there? It’s completely far-fetched that someone could steal your car without you being any the wiser. But that didn’t stop Gary him. Sure, he parked in the same spot, refilled the tank to where it had been, and replaced my keys to where he’d “borrowed” them from. But that’s about all he got right! Folks tend to like their automobiles set up in just the right way—almost ritualistic in precision. That describes me then and now, so I recognized a dozen or so changes. I can’t remember them all, but here’s a partial list:

  • Driver’s seat moved backward
  • Passenger seat moved forward
  • Driver’s seat reclined
  • Radio station changed
  • Emergency brake not on
  • The Club was on and locked (I never locked it)
  • Steering wheel tilted up
  • Wheels not straightened

Guess who slept with his keys under his pillow from then on?

  1. I just Love that certain Carfolo cousin. She keeps things happening.

My grandson turned 16 and got his permit. A few years ago my son in law decided he wanted a toy. He bought a bright red Camero convertible which sits in his garage while him and my daughter work and their son is home doing on line school. I told them to make sure no keys are left in the house. I hope he doesn’t learn how to hot wire.

    • It’s one thing to steal a 1988 Ford Probe. Another, altogether, to steal a newish Camero.

  2. You never did get along with said roommate that well. The younger cousin wasn’t me and has a brother that can represent her now.

  3. I would have slept with my keys too. I was almost arrested when I wasn’t even in that city. Seems a certain Carfolo cousin, who will remain nameless, was younger and when I turned 21 she wanted to be 21 also. So I went to BMV and said I lost my license so they would issue a new one. Didn’t have pictures back in those days. This cousin went to Ashtabula and told me the next day “wow you almost got arrested last night”. Could have seen my mother getting a call that I was in jail, “no she isn’t she is sleeping upstairs”. Social security numbers were on the license back in those days and this particular cousin got her SS number same day as me so we are one digit off. Was glad when photos were added to drivers license.
