Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. Then scroll back up and see what I have to complain about. Or you can wait until afterward . . . I’m not the boss of you. You know what? Don’t write anything for all I care! Now that’s disturbing!
. . .here are my thoughts.
What is the most disturbing costume you can imagine wearing?
Remember back in the day when it was okay for a white man to paint his face dark and take the acting job that should have gone to a black man? How about when men dressed up as their opposite gender, stealing roles from woman as well? A cis male dressing as a transgender woman may be okay (i.e. Transparent), but even then there’d likely be a good deal of criticism for failing to cast an actual transgender woman. But any backlash would pale in comparison to the horrors of a white actor in blackface for any reason whatsoever today. It’d now be unimaginable to even have a Caucasian actor dressed in blackface for the role of a character who’s wearing the blackface as a demonstration of how derogatory blackface is. A comedy featuring a white man in blackface—no longer funny. A period film harkening back to those early days of cinema—a thing of the past. Black masks for Halloween—disturbingly unavailable for purchase. Mud masks with seaweed wrap at the beauty salon—get ‘em while you still can, ladies.
I want the good old days back when everyone didn’t find something wrong with what anybody does or says.
Amen to that.
I don’t see that happening, though.
Anything scary.
