Crackling TV Fire, Whipped Cream and a Dish Towel. Sounds like the title of a Young Sheldon episode. A series Ned highly recommends, whether or not you watched The Big Bang Theory. Frankly, Ned loves anything Chuck Lorre touches. He claims Chuck looks like Santa did a couple millennia ago, before the thick beard and wide waistline. More than anything, though, little Sheldon Cooper reminds Ned of himself when he was just a wee lad: socially awkward, but smart as a whip. To this day, he is smart enough never to drink hot cocoa in public. Ned is resigned, instead, to enjoying his favorite beverage alone—just himself and his hangover headache.

You can tell a lot about an elf from the state of his head. When a hat is on, it’s complete professionalism—the magic can flow. If a noggin is bare, you can rest assured it’s time for chores of a more terrestrial nature. Sure, Ned could use a little elfin magic to autonomously sign and send his Christmas cards, leaving more time for booze and cocoa. Some would appreciate that magic, but Ned firmly believes the true gift is that of his time and effort. Upon penning his final big red “Ned”, the stack of blank envelopes catches his eye. Claiming his marker is running a bit dry is all the rationalization needed for Ned to don his cap. An interweaving of sentimentality and magicality—the best of both worlds.
