Ned stares toward the door, wondering what two people are doing with so many damn shoes. Meanwhile—as yet another season of adventures wraps up—Viv makes sure the pair have everything they need for their trek to the Old Worthington Library. From there they’ll suffer the long, indignant return leg to the North Pole Elvin Library.
Viv is smart enough to pack a snack and some water for this trip. Ned brings along a $20 bill (along with 9 more of its friends) in an attempt to bribe the local librarian for a tome upgrade. He assures Viv the money is merely to pay late fees. Ned justifies his deception, believing Viv deserves to travel in discomfort if she would dare to eat an effigy of Santa.
