Meds & Counsel without Patience for Patients
Ever heard of Dick’s Last Resort? Never been to the restaurant myself, but I love the concept. It’s like the court jester in medieval times being able to tell the King the harsh truth since everything he said was in—you guessed it—jest. Why has no pharmacy taken up this business practice? If patients expect harsh but fair truth from the pharmacy team, they’ll accept it readily.
Welcome to URxProbablyRxight. The pharmacy of the future where we provide “Meds & Counsel without Patience for Patients.”
Just a Quick Question
[Rph]: “Thanks for calling ‘You Are Probably Right.’ This is Roger, a pharmacist. What can I do for you today?”
[Patient]: “Hey, Roger, sorry to bother you. I just got a quick question for you.”
[Rph]: “Please hold.” // “Alright guys, I got one.”
[Tech 1]: “What? Another question about COVID waitlists?”
[Rph]: “Nope, a ‘Quick Question’ question. Over/Under on 3 minutes?”
[Tech 2]: “I’ll take the Under.”
[Tech 1]: “That’s a sucker’s bet, Dillon. Take the Over. Always the Over.”
[Rph]: “Sorry ‘bout that, sir. Go ahead with your quick question.”
[Pt]: “Yeah, okay. I was fixin’ up my weekly pill box . . . [2 minutes, 45 seconds] . . . so, I guess my question is . . .”
[Rph]: “Please hold.” // “You win, Lesley—185 seconds before he even asked his quick question.”
[Tech 1]: “Told ya, Dillon. Always take the Over.”
[Tech 2]: “Lucky guess.”
[Tech 1]: “Not at all! I mean, if it’s gonna be a quick question, you wouldn’t have to waste time saying so. Just ask it, get the answer, and hang up.”
[Rph]: “Alright, sorry ‘bout that Mr. Ramling. So the quick answer to your question is . . .”
