What is something you have never been able to do?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. Then scroll back up and see what I have to complain about. Or you can wait until afterward . . . I’m not the boss of you. You know what? Don’t write anything for all I care! But you’ll never be able to resist.

This may not make too much sense if you’re not a poker player. But I love the game, and it’s my damn blog. If you spend a couple hours at a poker table you’ll inevitably hear some idiot in a heads-up pot fold his hand to an all-in bet on the river, and say, “Good Bet.” In this situation, the player who bets is doing so for 1 of 2 reasons: 1) he wants worse hands to call, or 2) he wants better hands to fold. That’s it. The other player can respond in 1 of 2 ways: 1) call if he thinks his hand is best, or 2) fold if he thinks he’s beat. It’s a contradiction to fold and say “Good bet.” A fold indicates he thinks his hand is worst, while his mouth says he thinks his cards are best. Mr. Good Bet is simply demonstrating a lack of confidence in his read of the situation. I’ve never been able to understand why poker players so often refuse to take the action they know to be correct.
