Q&complAints #600 : Sport Variation

What variation of an existing sport would you like to see?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! Wouldn’t want any variation from the previous 599 posts you didn’t comment on.

. . .here are my thoughts.

What variation of an existing sport would you like to see?

The flying maneuvers in Top Gun: Maverick look extremely realistic, chaotic, and dangerous—for the little I know of high-speed aeronautics, anyway.  Dog-fight training scenes use what must be the world’s most expensive laser tag set-up.  Even though no planes are being shot down during the practice sessions, any flight could easily end in disaster.  One scene eventually shows them calling an end to a training exercise, presumably to head straight back to the bar once they’ve all landed safely.  Call me old-fashioned, but for my liking there’s far too much imbibing in old fashions by fighter pilots flying multimillion dollar machines that can travel near Mach 1.5.  Anyway, the instant they let their guard down, one plane’s engine is on the wrong end of a Sully-esque bird strike.  The plane crashes; I presume it doesn’t work out too well for the birds, either.  This demonstrates that regardless of a pilot’s training, skill, and technological superiority, luck will always play a role.  The same can be said for the sport Top Gun: Maverick introduces: dogfight football—two balls; both teams on offense and defense, simultaneously.  Bring on the chaos!
