. . .here are my thoughts.
What’s your go-to “Too soon?” example?
The actor portraying Harvey Weinstein in the movie She Said is on screen for only a minute or so in total, and only shown from behind. This is the same method used in the film Air—Michael Jordan is never seen face on. We all know what those famous, or infamous (or both) men look like, so there’s little need for an uncanny valley-esque portrayal. The films share another similarity: 23. MJ will be forever linked to the number 23, just as Messi is to 10, and Jackie Robinson to 42. You think Jordan, you think 23. When Weinstein awakes each morning, he might rightly think 23 as well … 23 years in the clink! She Said has a similar feel to Law & Order in that they both immediately progress from one scene to the next without a wasted moment. I imagine the movie’s director admired that aspect of Law & Order so much that she said (the director, not the movie), “I need that same pacing for this story.” To which one of her [soon to be former] assistants responded with a sadistic smile, “So what I hear you saying is, #MeToo.”
