Q&complAints #661 : April Fools’ Joke

What is the best April Fools’ Day joke ever?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! Of course I’m just joking; if you write nothing, my feelings will be devastated.

. . .here are my thoughts.

What is the best April Fools’ Day joke ever?

In the healthcare profession, dates of birth are important.  Go to a medical appointment and you’ll end up stating your name and DOB many, many times.  This despite having both pieces of information plastered right there on your damn wristband.  In pharmacy, we also use these two reference points to assure patients get their correct medications.  From my decades in the pharmacy world, I’ve noticed there’s one month and day combo that’s much more common than any of the others: February 29 January 1.  There’s really no reason for the first day of the Gregorian calendar to see more births than any other day—except for leap day, obviously.  Many of these January 1 DOBs are simply assigned to people who immigrated to the U.S.  This may be because their culture only documents the year of birth, not month or day.  Or simply because records weren’t properly documented for any number of reasons.  Whatever the impetus, January 1 is often the default chosen or assigned.  Either that, or 9 months earlier—on April 1—lots of folks pull that most epic of April Fools’ Day jokes: the ol’ poke-a-hole-in-the-condom gag.  Classic!
