What is your New Year’s resolution?
Nearly two decades of must-watch status—it’s been a solid run! Perhaps now’s the time to move aside, Elf. There’s a new Will Ferrell Christmas movie to watch every December (with Ryan Reynolds as a bonus). The big difference with Spirited is you’ll actually get to watch the entire film. Since it’s an Apple TV+ entity, you can fire up Spirited any ol’ time you please. No longer will you start watching Elf after scrolling through the GUIDE, commencing your viewing experience just as Buddy passes through the sea of swirly-twirly gum drops. Who am I kidding? Doesn’t everyone rely on the plethora of streaming platforms these days? Watch half an hour of trailers on Hulu, then switch over to Peacock for another 20 minutes of scrolling. When that proves unfruitful, migrate over for a solid 15 each at Disney+ and Amazon Prime, ultimately ending up chilling with Netflix for God knows how long. Could’ve watched any one of those damn movies by now. Instead, you’ve seen two-and-a-half-minutes of countless films you’ll never watch in their entirety. It’s still early enough in 2023 to make a New Year’s resolution: skip the trailers; press play!
