What should every parent teach their children?
Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! But it’d be a great lesson for your kids.
. . .here are my thoughts.
What should every parent teach their children?
In middle school English class—probably 6th grade—we competed in a spelling bee to see who’d be the class representative to battle the victor of all the other classes. That winner ultimately going God-knows-where. The one word I remember was “metal.” Or so the first person who spelled it thought. Someone then tried M-E-D-A-L, but was told they would get no award for their effort. Eventually M-E-D-D-L-E was tried. The smug 20-something teacher informed that student to no longer concern themselves with the competition, because they were now eliminated. Half the contestants were sidelined by that word—including yours truly—before the brainiac of the class spelled M-E-T-T-L-E. It would have been one thing if we’d just finished a lesson on homophones, but that was not the case. Nor did the teacher tell us we could ask for the word’s definition, part of speech, language of origin, etc. The lesson here seems simple: every parent should teach their kid to be resilient in the face of difficult situations. Well, sure. But I think it may be more prudent to impart the life-lesson that sometimes people in positions of authority are total dicks!
