Q&complAints #158: Embody An Animal

If you were any animal, what would you be?

Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! Maybe just post a picture of your pet.

. . .here are my thoughts.

If you were any animal, what would you be?

A dog! They get waited on paw and foot by humans who adore them. Plus, dogs don’t understand death. I see it as both a good and bad thing they don’t understand that potentially depressing concept. (Feel free to enlighten me if you’re convinced dogs are cognizance of their mortality.) If you don’t know about something, you won’t worry or stress about it. But you also can’t prepare for it.

When Gia died in 2019, did her brothers—Frankie and Baron—wonder where she went? Did the boys think Mommy and Daddy decided to get rid of sissy? If so, do they worry we’ll someday get rid of them, too? (I’m pretty sure they’d like to stay.) Or maybe they think Gia became a racist in her old age and no longer wanted to live with her two black-furred brothers. I think it’s better to just not know of your inevitable mortality. And imagine getting to sleep as much as dogs do. So much sleep! A major drawback of being a dog, though, is their short, sub-2-decade lifespan. Then again, if I were a dog, I probably wouldn’t contemplate that, either.
