What would you flaunt … if you had it?
Post your answer in the LEAVE A COMMENT section below. I’m not the boss of you, though. Don’t write anything for all I care! Don’t be modest, I know you have lots of very important things to say.
. . .here are my thoughts.
What would you flaunt … if you had it?
I noticed something while watching the Australian Open singles finals. Immediately prior to strolling back onto the court for an interview, both the men’s and women’s winners slipped on their wristwatch. If I had an extravagantly expensive wristwatch, I’d flaunt it, too. They made sure to wipe their brow with that heavier hand. They held their chin in contemplation of the deep, philosophical questions posed to them by their interviewer—pausing far longer than would generally be considered normal if contracts weren’t involved. It’s all about endorsements. The Nike, Adidas, Lacoste, or other clothing sponsor logo sits right on their chest or headband throughout the entire match. Their equipment sponsor is displayed on racket strings and multiple giant equipment bags. What would be the penalty for forgetting to don the watch? What if the sleeve of their warm-up jacket accidentally covered the mammoth timepiece? Since coaching is severely restricted during the match, a coach’s sole role becomes reminding their athlete of the only thing more important than the imminent post-match interview: knowing the time! That should really be the agent’s job, though. They’re the ones standing to lose a 15% commission.
